The Simple Woman’s Daybook for July 11, 2016

For Today…

Looking out my window … it’s sunny and bright and I hear a bird chirping.

I am thinking … about all the things I’d like to get done this week while my kids go to camp!!

I am thankful … for our Presbytery’s Church Camp where the children have so much fun and learn so much.

One of my favorite things … lunch with friends which I get to do today after I drop my kids off.

I am wearing … pajamas still, but not for long.

I am creating … lists of ideas about taking our Art with Friends group to the next level. More forthcoming.

I am going to watch … my friend Kate from church compete on (and win!) Guy’s Grocery Games Rising Stars. We’re so proud of Kate and her amazing talent. And thankful that we get to eat her food regularly [grin] We know she’s a star.

I am hoping … to actually acomplish the things I’m thinking about to do this week!

I am learning … about God’s generosity.

In my kitchen … there’s a bit of a mess as I was sick over the weekend. Tackling that this afternoon.

In the school room … I’m going to be working through the freebie I received from Pam’s Plan Your Year about cleaning out the homeschool room while the children are gone this week. (Except the culling of books [eep!]) You can follow my efforts on Instagram or Facebook.

Post Script
I’m so excited to be participating in the 20 Days of Homeschooling Encouragement Blog Party at my friend Amy Milcic’s blog this week. My post goes live Wednesday, but there are a lot of encouraging posts at Busy Boys Brigade this week and last. Check it out!

Shared Quote … I don’t have one this week.

A moment from my day … dinner before baseball one night last week was leftover BBQ pork (frozen and thawed) mixed with broccoli slaw with blue cheese dressing stuffed in pitas. This was a hit with my family! Too bad baseball was cancelled for thunderstorms.

  1. Ah, to still be homeschooling. My kids finished high school in 2008 and 2010, so my homeschooling days have been over for 6 years. It took me several years to stop grieving the ending of them.

If you ever need encouragement to keep on going through the high school years, I am more than willing to be that encouragement. I am SO glad I went the distance.

  2. Oh, I recall so fondly the weeks my kids went to church camp in the summer! I always cherished the time it gave me to get things done or spend some quiet time alone or with friends. I hope your time is fruitful, however you choose to use it!

  3. Hope you had a lovely lunch with your friends … and probably not in your PJs.
    Cheese curls? Oh, the memories.

  4. It sounds like you are going to have a wonderful week. I hope you accomplish all your plans. Thanks for the pork pita idea…sounds very yummy and now that our nest is empty I don't have to worry about picky eaters. Yay!
