Read Aloud Thursday: The Jungle Book
We are at a quiet place in our read aloud schedule. Right now, we’re reading The Jungle Book (Book II) by Rudyard Kipling. I found a lovely hardcover edition that has both books included.
We enjoyed Book I a lot. It is the one with the stories you know: Rikki Tikki Tavi (I always want to call it Rikki Tikki Tembo, but that is the wrong story [grin]), Mowgli, etc. The poetry opening and closing the stories is wonderful. The stories are great and have provided much in the way of discussion topics.
I’m having a harder time with Book II, although we’re going to read some more Mowgli stories starting tonight (particularly the one from Vigen Guroian’s Mentor talk).
Starting next week we’ll have some more read alouds.
Oh, I'm so glad you played! We've never read The Jungle Books, but if my girls' enjoyment of Rikki Tikki Tavi is any indication, they would love it! I'm looking forward to what you have to share in the coming weeks!
I've only read parts of this one but the older children have enjoyed reading it!
