Book Review: The Convenient Marriage by Georgette Heyer

The Convenient MarriageThe Convenient Marriage by Georgette Heyer

Own.  Another from my mom’s stash.  I think I’m about Heyered out for a bit.  On the upside, I’ve almost caught up with 52 books in 52 weeks.

I did not like this one very much.  Much of the plot was moved forward with gambling, which really bothers me.  At least in this one, the all-knowing, older husband wasn’t as all-knowing as they often seem. The resolution was abrupt with no falling action but that was because Heyer wrote from both the husband and wife’s perspective and action, so the reader had few surprises.  The stammering character device was more annoying than necessary, and the characters weren’t very engaging.

I’m thinking two Heyers at a time is about my limit.
