31 Days to Surviving Sports Seasons Sanely: Keeping Family Habits

This is one of the most difficult parts of Sports Seasons.

Some of our family habits include Daddy waking the kids and telling them goodbye before he leaves, reading aloud at the dinner table, and walking with the dogs after dinner.

When you don’t get home until 7:30 or later, dinner gets pushed back and becomes hurried (bye-bye read aloud!), it gets too dark to walk, kids need to sleep in because they were up too late.

I don’t have a great solution. Here are some things we tried this fall.
  • Setting the table ahead so all we had to do was put the food and drink out.
  • Walking in street-lit areas only.
  • Mommy eat one serving quickly and starting to read before everyone else is finished.
  • Encourage sleeping or napping during Quiet Time and limiting activities more. Enough rest means our regular morning schedule is maintained.

Corner kick! Count on your team for the score!
