2015 Homeschool Changes: Physical Changes

I think one of the big problems we have had is that the kids are squirrely and I am not. I can sit down at 8:30 and do school work until noonish with no problems.

Only that is a problem for my fitness.

Last winter I attempted Couch to 5K, running in place in my basement (no treadmill).  I got so I could run the whole time and read my book.  I thought originally that as it got warmer I’d try running outside, but I have to do this before my husband leaves for work which meant getting up at 5:30 am.  It is dark, really dark, at 5:30 and I wasn’t comfortable going outside by myself at that time.  And 5:30 is really, really early.  I don’t much care for mornings, so this was unsustainable even though it was good.

The children are active in local sports during all but a few months of the year and play outside when the weather is nice, but that doesn’t seem to be quite enough activity.

So, after chores, after breakfast, after devotions, before sitting down to Circle Time, I think we’re going to do something from 8-8:30 or so.  Pilates video (they like this!), Couch to 5K in place in the family room, something to just use some of that restless energy first thing.

They’ve never done well with breaks; coming back after taking a break is generally impossible.  I’m going to try to build one break into our schedule this year, though.  Maybe 20 minutes about 11:00?  I need to need to move then too.
