Weekly Report for March. So, Monthly Report?
Here I was thinking it’d been 3 weeks or so since I wrote a Weekly Report. Hm, seems like it’s been 5! My laptop is behaving pretty nicely if it sits on my desk, and I’m finding time at my desk less than time with my laptop wherever I might be. Not necessarily a bad thing.
We’ve had an exciting month with Indoor Soccer finishing, Outdoor Soccer starting, a dryer dying, and a new washer and dryer installed. We’ve had piano lessons and practices, art with friends, Bible Study, snow days, and more. I’m not sure we’ve done a whole 5 day week in a while, and I’m feeling it. April is going to be busier.
We finished learning “Ah, Holy Jesus” and “Up From the Grave He Arose.” I’m glad “Up from the Grave” was pretty easy and they already kinda knew it. I’m glad we had most of “Ah, Holy Jesus” learned in February. We finished the story Red Snow in Parables from Nature. We started As You Like It in our Shakespeare book. M-girl asked for more manners, so we’ve added reading from Everyday Graces. N-boy is almost done with the Catechism for Young Children, with only the sections on heaven and hell remaining. R-girl is in the middle of the 10 Commandments. We’re almost done with Philippians 2:1-10 and have completed 8 lessons in Covenantal Catechism (our Bible curriculum).
Math is going well. R-girl is getting a bit bogged down in Y1. She’s in the 130s and I keep forgetting that she’s only 5. We’re going to take some time to slow down and work with Math Mammoth a bit. She’s frustrated, so something a little less intense is what’s called for I think. N-boy is in the measurement section of Y2, getting ready to move into multiplication. M-girl is working on multiplication and thinks it’s hard. We’ll keep working. Calculadder has been a surprising hit. They’re getting faster, but still on the same lesson I assigned when we began.
We’ve done a much better job of integrating writing into our history and science. We’re at Christopher Columbus in Story of the World 2, and stopping to add literature and History Pockets as we think about explorers. In science we finally finished Astronomy and began Geology. We’re at the very introduction, but so far so good. All that Jonathan Park is paying off as they’re very excited about Geology.
Moving Grammar to the same time as Latin has been perfect. We’re moving along and Latin gets done, too. I need to get R-girl and N-boy more penmanship practice. M-girl’s handwriting is gorgeous, but the other two need some work.
I’m very behind on my EdX class. I I need to get to work!
Glad to hear all is well! 🙂 Great job incorporating the writing- that's something I've let slide for far to long! 🙁
