Weekly Report for April 22-26, 2013
Well, we’ve had better weeks. But this one worked. We had two days of Circle Time. N-boy is working on the final section of catechism. R-girl is on the 7th and 8th Commandments. We’re learning The Church’s One Foundation – six verses! We added Colossians 3:12-17 for our new Bible memory (Put on …) We read more about Handel and how he became the organist for his church. We decided to skip Packer’s Romeo and Juliet and moved on to her Twelfth Night. M-girl wasn’t so sure about another tragedy. (Actually she was very sure she wanted nothing to do with another tragedy …)
We did accomplish math every day, that was very necessary. M-girl worked on multiplying 9s and order of operations. N-boy worked on reviewing two digit addition and subtraction before starting multiplication. R-girl concentrated on making 16s, 17s, and 18s. The children also did some geography, free history reading, and a lot of MindBenders worksheets.
Tuesday, they had their piano recital and it went quite well. We had our lesson early this week, on Monday before their recital. Three soccer games have been played this week – a first this season! We rode our bikes around the block on Monday. They’ve played a lot of backyard baseball and soccer and play. Hooray spring!
We did Art with Friends yesterday and learned about Raphael’s painting of a Young Woman with Unicorn. We tried the technique of sfumato in painting the sky.
Next week, I hope to have a more regular schedule and accomplish more.
