Wednesdays with Words: Proposition
It’s all their fault, those
Their Sistership Spring Seminar called Excellent Marxmanship and read from several books including The Communist Manifesto by Marx and Engel. I read the Preface this week
This proposition, which, in my opinion, is destined to do for history what Darwin’s theory has done for biology, we, both of us, had been gradually approaching for some years before 1845.
The Communist Manifesto, pg 14
Karl Mars and Friedrich Engels
The preface is actually by Engels for the 1888 edition and that he comes out and says this is astounding to me.
In the Westminster Shorter Catechism the question “How doth God execute his decrees?” and the answer is “God executeth his decrees in the works of creation and providence. ”
I’ve been contemplating this idea of God’s decrees as related to Charlotte Mason’s curriculum defined as “Of the three sorts of knowledge proper to a child, the knowledge of God, of man, and of the universe, – the knowledge of God ranks first in importance, is indispensable, and most happy-making.”
So essentially between Marx and Darwin, their proposition is determined to undermine all knowledge and therefore God, himself.
We’d love to have you join us – the Spring Seminar is for their Sophie-level members, but you can find out more about Sistership here.
