Wednesdays with Words: Oops …
I don’t have a quote for you today, do you have one for me?
I do have a question for you, though. Which of Little Women’s March sisters did you wish to be when you first read it and why? My husband thinks most women would choose to be Meg while I aver that most would choose Jo and that my choice of Meg is the odd one.
What are you reading and what has caught your mind?
‘);
I would say Beth. I love how she is such a great example of acceptance of all circumstances.
Lisa, I've asked this question on FB, G+, and here and you are the sole person to select Beth. I love your reason, thanks!
Jo–hands down! Meg is too, too–not sure what, but not what I ever wanted to be. Even in Little Men I like Jo better.
Perhaps wish to be isn't really the right question, but identify with. I definitely identify with Meg's good and bad qualities. (well, as I remember them from 30 years ago!)
Enjoying re-reading 'Enemy Brothers' – this time to my youngest. Will try & share something on it next week. I like Jo in that she was generally well-meaning but got things wrong a lot of the time. Can relate to that!
I think many of us can relate to that. I'll be looking forward to what you have to share, Carol!
Interesting Question…I don't know if I ever thought about who I would want to be I know I *am* Meg, though!
Yes, that tends to be how I feel about it. Interesting how many of us here are akin to Meg.
Definitely Jo, although I'm pretty sure I'm more like Meg in many ways.
Want to be versus identify with? Oh, I'd love to be creative and write like Jo, but I thought Meg was so perfect …
I think most reading will identify with Jo…as the protagonist. However, for those who read it regularly :), they may find that they identify with others at certain times of life. Marmee as mom, Meg as a newlywed, and Jo as a teen that not everyone relates to.
I am so glad you saw my quote about Beth. I had meant to link up that week, but when your post wasn't up yet when I came over to look…and then I forgot. 🙂
Annette, it is wonderful to have you joining us! Feel free to link your posts late – even from last week. The more the better 🙂
