The Simple Woman’s Daybook for August 26, 2013
FOR TODAY
Outside my window…it’s bright and sunny out.
I am thinking…about how we’ll shorten Circle Time after our late night. I think we can just get through the Bible portion.
I am thankful…that we can be flexible with our schedule to accommodate things like last night’s reception for a family moving away from our congregation. We’ll miss them!
In the kitchen…teriyaki chicken stir fry marinating for dinner tonight.
I am wearing…khaki shorts, pink and orange sleeveless top.
I am creating…not a lot at the moment.
I am going…to soccer practices tonight! And so it begins …
I am wondering…if the children will be moving soon or not.
I am reading…Pilgrim at Tinker Creek. Still. 74 pages to go. Not that I’m counting …
I am hoping…to finish it sooner rather than later.
I am looking forward to…vacation! It’s coming soon …
I am learning…about muskrats and worms and fish and birds and floods … more than I want to know, perhaps.
Around the house…I cleaned up the school papers over the weekend, putting in notebooks and sorting them. Hooray!
I am pondering…how Jesus comes alongside us to teach us in very real ways. He doesn’t leave his people in their disillusionment and doubt. Excellent sermon yesterday on Jesus and Thomas. How good he is!
A favorite quote for today…
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life—the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us—that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete. (1 John 1:1-4, ESV)
One of my favorite things…1 John. It’s one of my favorite books of the Bible. You can just hear John’s kindness and gentleness. You can relax into the words and find rest … oh the great love God has lavished on us.
A few plans for the rest of the week…soccer, watching a friend’s children a couple of days, ice skating, and another Clipper’s game – this time with Daddy! Sounds pretty busy …
A peek into my day…
My handsome men … matching for worship 🙂 |
