The Simple Woman’s Daybook for March 19, 2012

FOR TODAY

Outside my [*OPEN*] window… is a stunningly beautiful day.  Crystal clear blue skies. 80 degrees. Birds tweeting.  It is March, isn’t it?

I am thinking…
about the wonderful visit we had with Jason’s parents yesterday.  Thanks for driving up again!

I am thankful…
for our church intern’s new licensed status and excellent preaching.

In the kitchen…
the vase full of the brightest yellow forsythia is cheerfully exploding joy.

I am wearing…
denim skirt and black square-necked t-shirt.  The children are all in shorts and t-shirts.  It’s going to be hard to go back to bad weather when it comes.

I am creating… ironed clothing (soon).  I did laundry this morning and if I get it ironed this afternoon, I will feel completely accomplished.

I am going… to the library and grocery store this afternoon.  I hope Jason can meet us at the grocery and that the start of testing is going very, very smoothly.

I am wondering… how testing is going so far.

I am reading… well, I should be reading Peter Pan and finishing it for book club tonight (in case testing goes well enough for me to attend).  Secondarily, I should be reading The Roots of American Order for Cindy’s book club which as of tomorrow I’ll be two chapters behind. What I really am reading is Stanley Fish’s How to Write a Sentence.  Because it isn’t required by anyone.  I have issues.

I am hoping…  to do some more listening while I iron.

I am looking forward to… a couple of play dates this week.

I am learning… and considering more about Classical Education and how I want it to look in our house from this interesting post on the WTM Forum.

Around the house… I finally managed to get all the Christmas decorations down.  Mid March on a 75 degree day.  Yay me!

I am pondering… going back to Norms & Nobility or Abolition of Man or starting Tending the Heart of Virtue.

A favorite quote for today… β€œAll studies, philosophy, rhetoric are followed for this one object, that we may know Christ and honor him.  This is the end of all learning and eloquence.”- Desiderius Erasmus

One of my favorite things… all three kids able to swing and pump their legs by themselves πŸ™‚  And the giggling that I hear from the swingset.

A few plans for the rest of the week…
play dates, art with friends, Newcomer’s Brunch at church (a favorite event)

A peek into my day…

He’s getting water to take outside.

  2. Your flowers are beautiful! High 80s here but I think it will stay. Thanks for the link – I'll try to read it when I can ponder. πŸ˜‰
