FOR TODAY Monday, January 24, 2011…
Outside my window… more snow is falling to the ground.
I am thinking… about the second method from 10 Ways … more tomorrow.
I am thankful for… Jesus and his love for us.
From the learning rooms… I had to make M-girl stop reading Heidi during Circle Time … and she wasn’t happy about it. Hooray! A reader 🙂
From the kitchen… very, very good question.
I am wearing… jeans, white turtleneck tunic
I am creating… commonplace entries in my journal from Island of the World.
I am going… to stay home despite wanting to go to Wal-Mart.
I am reading… The Abolition of Man.
I am hoping… to finish it and catch up on the weekly book challenge.
I am hearing… R-girl play Jason’s Paper Jamz guitar and N-boy play his birthday guitar. They aren’t very good, but it is still entertaining.
Around the house… laundry, laundry, laundry, laundry.
One of my favorite things… that my children love music … listening to it, singing it, making it.
A few plans for the rest of the week: gymnastics classes, piano lessons, congregational meeting, a movie date (maybe … depends what time they show The King’s Speech), Retreat Committee Meeting, hm. That seems to be more than a “few.”

Have you read The Abolition of Man before? I tried it at least twice before I was fially able to get through it, and even then I only managed it because I noticed in the preface to That Hideous Strength where Lewis said it was a kind of companion to TAoM. THS is my favorite of his fiction works, so keeping that in mind I was finally able to get all the way through TAoM. I've read it twice now and I'm convinced it's one of the most important books written in the 20th century.
I haven't read it before, in fact I've read very little Lewis (LWW, Great Divorce, and Mere Christianity, I think). I'm plugging along OK, but got sidetracked into Island of the World.
I'm seeing the value in the reading, but it is kind of depressing when you see it working out in modern education.
