Saturday evening, my mom and I went to see Green Gables a musical based on the novel Anne of Green Gables. Columbus Children’s Theater is presenting the World Premier of this musical. When I was a kid I read and re-read AofGG many times, and if my memory is correct, this musical (at 3 hours!) was quite true to the novel. The lyrics got a bit cloying at times, but generally it was well acted, sung and produced. There was very little dialogue, almost the whole thing was sung. Marilla, Matthew, and Anne were very strong and quite good. Gilbert could have had a stronger voice, but he too did a nice job.

I enjoyed it very much.
