Podcast Addicted: The Homeschool Snapshots Podcast
This series isn’t a countown.
I’m just planning on sharing my favorite podcasts.
As a home educator, most of them are directly about homeschooling, and I’m going to do the education ones first.
That being said, I’ll let you in on a little secret. Homeschool Snapshosts is my favorite.
I think it’s because I’m inherently nosy. Well, or because I’m interested in people. That’s a nicer way to say it.
My favorite podcasts are like a conversation that I’ve been invited to eavesdrop upon. Homeschool Snapshots does that very, very well on a subject that I’m passionate about.
Pam, with her journalist-education background, asks interesting and insightful questions. She digs deeply into the ideas the guest is presenting in a cheerful, friendly manner.
I like hearing how and why people make the choices they make. I like to hear the practicalities of how people organize and accomplish the things in their homeschool. They’re fascinating. I love that she’s interviewed homeschool moms from a vast array of education philosophies and life experiences.
Homeschool Snapshots is an opportunity to peek into other worlds, to learn compassion for the struggles and joys of others, and to be encouraged by the general homeschool population. She’s interviewed moms who’ve homeschooled while single, moms who are finished with their homeschool journey, moms in the trenches. She always pulls one golden nugget to highlight that encourages other moms in the midst of their homeschool journey.
Recently, Pam interviewed Melissa Wiley and talked about tidal schooling. It was so interesting. I can easily see how it works in her homeschool and why, all the while thinking this wouldn’t work for us at all. I love that. I love the freedom we have in homeschooling! Freedom to each build a family culture that reflects us, our husbands, our children.
What is amazing to me is that Pam has not this one but a second amazing podcast … come back next week to hear more about that …
