The Simple Woman’ Daybook for February 8, 2010
FOR TODAY February 8, 2010… Outside my window… the sky is grey and laden with snow. It will be falling soon enough. And, here it is. I am thinking… about How Lincoln Learned to Read. I am thankful for… Similasan Pink Eye Relief ..I think M-girl had a close call. From the learning rooms… Argentina…
Book Review: How Lincoln Learned to Read by Daniel Wolff
I really enjoyed How Lincoln Learned to Read. The book is a history of 12 Americans, or soon-to-be Americans, and the manner in which they gained the knowledge and skills that would become necessary for them to complete the role they would fulfill in their adult lives. Perhaps what is most fascinating to me is…
Our Chilean Meal
So far, this is the best of our regional meals. Pollo Arvejado This was easy and really, really tasty. Lots of good flavor and fried potatoes, hard to not like. Jason and I enjoyed a Chilean Chardonnay: Dessert was Empanadas. These were less difficult than I had expected, and a lot tastier! We also enjoyed…
Yu-um
My sweet husband brought home pizza for dinner and brownies for me for Valentine’s Day. I don’t have to share 🙂 Thanks, Jason! I love you! [Sugardaddy’s is the bakery whose brownies beat Bobby Flay on Throwdown.]
Weekly Report: 2/8/10-2/13/10
We have yucky colds here this week, so we didn’t do a lot above and beyond our basic schedule. Tomorrow…

I like the way it was laid out. I need repentance and diligence and trust and consistency. I see some of the negative traits…
Book Review: The Moon by Night by Madeleine L’Engle
I’m pretty certain I don’t completely understand everything L’Engle is trying to say in any book and The Moon By Night is no exception. Vicky, 14, is having a bit of an identity crisis; she isn’t who she’s always been (gangly and angular and plain) and she isn’t sure she fits into her family or…
The Simple Woman’ Daybook for February 8, 2010
FOR TODAY February 8, 2010… Outside my window… the sun is glistening through the frozen trees and reflecting off the snow. I am thinking… about starting school in a bit. I am thankful for… the sun. It is much cheerier. From the learning rooms… We’re studying Chile this week. From the kitchen… Sticky Chicken in…
