Last night I was flipping channels and came across the Big 33 – Football Classic game. The Big 33 game is an all-star football game for recent graduates in Ohio vs recent graduates in Pennsylvania. Evidently, the game was actually played on Saturday, but not shown until last night here in Ohio.
It was an entertaining game, with lots of offense. The Ohio MVP Tedd Ginn Jr is coming to Ohio State this fall, and boy does he look impressive. We saw him play in an all star game in January and he looked really good then too. Generally, I’m a fan of defensive battles (being a Big 10 girl and all), but these all star games rarely feature staunch defense, so I can enjoy the trick plays and moving offense.
It looks like there are a number of both Pennsylvania and Ohio players who are coming to be Buckeyes. One of those players, Brandon Underwood was injured, but we don’t know the extent of his injury. Another future Buckeye, Erik Haw, had some impressive running plays in the game, but if he’s 6′ tall, I’m 7′.
Overall, I’m just giddy that there was football on TV. OSU players report August 10 and the first game is September 4. Between now and then, there shall be much discussion of football and NFL preseason (which is about all of the NFL I pay attention to). Tomorrow night is ESPN’s College Football Preview special. Enough with the baseball, already!
