Circle Time Monday for September 24, 2012

Circle Time for the week of September 24, 2012 :

Bible:
continuing Philippians 2:1-3 adding verse 4.

Catechism: M-girl is going to be
reciting 4 pages of our catechism book a day.  N-boy is continuing with the first
three petitions of the Lord’s Prayer.  Those are tricky, there aren’t really any hints.  R-girl is still working on the First and Second Commandments.
M-girl has been listening to Catechism Songs during quiet time and is already getting some of the questions down.
Hymn: We’ve completed Great is Thy Faithfulness, and will begin on For All the Saints which we’ve kind of worked on most of the recent Octobers.  Maybe we’ll accomplish it this year.  It’s long and tricky.

Poetry: Everyone is ready to move on.  R-girl will be doing her poem #20, “The morns are meeker than they were,”  I don’t remember which is the next poem for M-girl and N-boy in IEW’s Poetry.

Latin: from Song School Latin, we’re learning the animal song after finishing the pets song.
Other Memory Work: We’re working on learning the planets for space.  Do you include Pluto? Continue skip
counting by 8s.  I’m still not at all ready for Middle Ages memory work. I should get on that.

Reading: Instead of a Poetry for Young People, the children asked to read Eric Carle’s Dragons, Dragons.  Who am I to argue? [smile] I’m continuing to enjoy The Heavens: Intimate Moments with your Majestic God for devotional reading. We started a new Parables from Nature chapter last week, Active and Passive, but didn’t finish it.  The kids will be disappointed to finish it instead of read a Shakespeare story.
