Circle Time Monday for 9/3/2012

Circle Time for the week of August 27, 2012 :

Bible: continuing Philippians 2:1.  We’re going to learn 1-18 (Lord willing).  the “If there is any” section is hard.  We’ll keep going.

Catechism: Today, at some point, I hope M-girl will recite the Catechism for Young Children for Jason.  N-boy and R-girl are ready for new sections.  This week, N-boy will start Q105-108, on prayer and the Lord’s Prayer.  R-girl will start the introduction to the 10 Commandments. Lord willing.

Hymn: This week we’ll work on verses one and two of “O, the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus” today.   I made a “page” at the top that shows all the hymns we’ve worked on (or plan to in the next few months).  It’s almost time to start considering hymns for next year! We sang “A Mighty Fortress” and “Come Thou Fount” yesterday during worship.  It is always fun to sing hymns we’ve memorized! The children get so excited.

Poetry: M-girl and N-boy are on the fourth stanza of The Duke of Plaza-Toro.  R-girl started The Swan and the Goose.  I think we’ll do the same this week, although R-girl could probably move on.   She and I need to pick a poem #20 for her!

Latin: from Song School Latin, we’re learning the manners song.  The children have fun with these songs.

Other Memory Work:
I think we’re going to learn the planets for science.  Continue skip counting by 8s.  I’m not at all ready for Middle Ages memory work.  That’s on the docket this morning.

Reading: We’re reading Poetry for Young People: Emily Dickinson.  I’m enjoying The Heavens: Intimate Moments with your Majestic God for devotions. We finished Hamlet from Tales for Shakespeare, but M-girl was crying by the end of it. Maybe we should stick to the comedies? We’ll read from Parables from Nature this week, The Law of the Wood.
