Circle Time Monday for 8/27/2012

Circle Time for the week of August 27, 2012 :

Bible: starting Philippians 2:1.  We’re going to learn 1-18 (Lord willing).

Catechism: M-girl is done with the Catechism for young Children.  She’s still practicing before she recites for an Elder.  I do need to start researching Westminster Shorter Catechism resources.  What are your favorites? N-boy is learning the two “wrap-up” questions for the Ten Commandments.  R-girl is learning about Christ’s offices.

Hymn: We began verse one of “O, the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus” today.  It’s fun.

Poetry: M-girl and N-boy are on the fourth stanza of The Duke of Plaza-Toro.  R-girl started The Swan and the Goose.  (yay!)

Latin: from Song School Latin, we’re learning the Classroom Commands songs.

Other Memory Work: I need to select some Memory Work for History and Science.  We continue working on Skip Counting 8s.  We haven’t been getting to Geography as it’s our fourth day of Circle Time per week.  We’re still supposed to be working on the Caribbean and West
Indies.

Reading: We’re reading Poetry for Young People: Emily Dickinson, The Heavens: Intimate Moments with your Majestic God for devotions, and  Hamlet from Tales for Shakespeare.

  1. Great job, M-girl on memorizing your catechism!!! 🙂 Our favorite resource are these songs (it puts the ? and answer to music- older version of catechism): http://www.reformedmusic.com/the-complete-cd-set/ Even my younger ones are memorizing the SC thanks to these songs! 🙂

I'm also using "Training Hearts, Teaching Minds" as a devotional- very short readings.
