I give it 3 stars. I liked it OK. I found the writing a little stilted, particularly in the beginning, but overall readable – I read it in one day.
I liked the characters, despite their perfections and lack of imperfections. The influence of Georgette Heyer was very apparent, although at times seemed a bit tacked on. I never felt completely sold on the Regency era setting of the novel, but it didn’t interfere with the story, either.
The biggest problem I had was the dimwittedness of the two main characters. They spent all this time together and didn’t understand each other? Phooey. I don’t believe it.
All around, a solid beach read, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to find more.
