31 Days to Surviving Sports Seasons Sanely: The Table Waits for You

Your food is hot and waiting. Your salad is prepared and sitting in the refrigerator. You’re going to walk in the house and smell delicious things.

Let’s eat!

“Oh, wait, I have to get out plates. You find the silverware. You get cups and I’ll pour drinks. Where is that trivet for the hot crockpot? Which server do I need? Can someone get the salad and dressings out?”

This is something new I tried for the Fall 2015 soccer season and it was an absolute success.

Sometime after lunch we set the table for dinner. Plates, silverware, cups, trivets, etc. Serving dishes and spoons near where the food will be served from. Have everything out and ready to accept food and drink and get us eating sooner rather than later.

This is a wonderful thing for Sunday dinner, too, when I set the table Saturday night. We come home from church and have dinner ready to serve out. Plus, it looks pretty. Perfect.
