Book Review: The Mighty Acts of God by Starr Meade (Family Read Aloud)
Mighty Acts Of God: A Family Bible Story Book by Starr Meade
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Own.
Probably should be 3.5 stars.
We read this story Bible for family devotions. The stories were well selected and gathered. They were written at a level the children could understand without talking down to them. Sometimes liberty was taken with the way the story was presented – told from the point of view of the boy who was healed or introducing Paul’s thoughts when approaching Mars Hill or in his Roman prison. These were helpful to consider the familiar stories from a different perspective, but I wonder a bit about the change.
I would have preferred to have read it after The Jesus Storybook Bible and before we read Catherine Vos’ The Child’s Story Bible. The Mighty Acts of God is very much a children’s story Bible. The Vos story Bible is a Bible edited for children.
My husband did most of the reading aloud of this and noted that there were some typos.
