Circle Time Monday (on Tuesday) for the week of 9/10/2012

Circle Time for the week of August 27, 2012 :

Bible:
continuing Philippians 2:1-2 adding verse 3.

Catechism: M-girl is going to be reciting 4 pages of our catechism book a day.  N-boy started the first three petitions of the Lord’s Prayer.  Those are tricky.  R-girl started the First and Second Commandments today.  We’ve been listening to Catechism Songs (just the first CD) in the car a little bit … can’t believe how close all the children are to starting the Westminster Shorter Catechism!  I bought Exodus books’ package which includes the song book because the children like to sing and play and have learned the first verse several hymns from their beginner hymnbook.
Hymn: We completed “O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus” last week (good thing, ’cause we sang it in worship on Sunday!) This week we’re working on the first verse of Great is Thy Faithfulness. One of my favorites.

Poetry: M-girl and N-boy are
on the final stanza of “The Duke of Plaza-Toro.”  R-girl is still working on “The Swan and the Goose.”  She would like to do an Emily Dickinson poem for her Level 1 Poem #20.  I was voting for “There is no frigate like a book …” but she wants “The morns are meeker than they were,

Latin: from Song School Latin, we’re learning the animal song.  The children have fun with these songs.

Other Memory Work:
I think we’re going to learn the planets for science.  Continue skip
counting by 8s.  I’m still not at all ready for Middle Ages memory work. I should get on that .

Reading: We finished Poetry for Young People: Emily Dickinson. I haven’t chosen which of the other Poetry for Young People books I’m going to read next.  I’m enjoying The Heavens: Intimate Moments with your Majestic God for devotions. We finished from Parables from Nature  last week, The Law of the Wood.  We’re reading Much Ado About Nothing from Tina Packer this week.
