I stopped posting week 35, but I did read after that. I’ve read bits and pieces of a lot of books, but only finished a few more: Duplicate Death and Envious Casca by Georgette Heyer and today I finished Her Mother’s Hope by Francine Rivers (and reserved the next book from the library). I’m almost done with Calvin Stapert’s book on Handel’s Messiah (and am enjoying it! … Christianaudio.com has it for free through the end of the month.) We also would have finished The Jungle Book had we not stopped for Thanksgiving and Christmas books, but I’m not counting it.
So, 40 books finished in 2010. The literary quality isn’t the highest and there’s a lot more fiction than I’ve read in *years*
In 2010, I’m not going to focus so much on reading a lot of books. Not going for a book a week, just to read a book a week. My goal is to read books in the house. Quality books I have. Including finishing Susan Wise Bauer’s History of the Ancient World and reading her History of the Medieval World. I should make a list. I have all sorts of good books I’ve been reading here and there: Peacemaking Women, What is a Family?, Tending the Heart of Virtue, Climbing Parnassus, Norms and Nobility, etc. My brother wants to read Greeks and Romans Bearing Gifts when I finish it (hafta start it first, it was a Christmas present) I’ll still pick up some fiction from the library now and again. I’d like to finish Jonah Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism that I had to return a year ago. And I have a few others on my library hold list. Oh, and I may participate in the Jane Austen mini-challenge from the 52 Books in 52 Weeks blog. But that won’t be a chore 🙂
Well done! 🙂 I have a goal to read more this year… again. 🙁
I'm going to join in this year…I hope I have a list like yours come Dec 2011!
